Artist Statement

Claude Monet once said: “Color is my daylong obsession, joy, and torment.” I, too, am obsessed with color. I emphasize color and light in my paintings to express my emotions. I do not copy nature directly (the camera is the best at that), rather I paint instinctively with oil paint and palette knives. If a painting conveys excitement and pleasure, to me, it is a success.
I’m inspired by the Impressionism and Fauvism art movements, along with such painters as Vincent Van Gogh, Henri Matisse, and Andre Derain.
It’s a pleasure to share with others the beauty and delight I’ve learned to see and express in my art.
